Mountain Roaster Sweet Pepper

DESCRIPTION
These 2.5-3 foot plants produce large-fruited sweet roasting pepper with thick walls. Harvest when fully red.

PROVENANCE
This is Oshkosh-grown seed originally from Experimental Farm Network. Jason Mills is currently the local Seed Steward.

GROWING RECOMMENDATIONS
Start indoors in early April for June transplant. Provide 18 to 24 inches of space between plants. Especially if your garden gets wind damage, peppers benefit from staking, since these plants can produce heavy loads of fruits.

SEED SAVING
Peppers need to be isolated from pollinators in order to produce true-to-type seeds in urban environments. This can be done with fine mesh netting over entire plants or individual flowers/flower clusters.

CULINARY USE
Enjoy raw or cooked. It stands up well to roasting or grilling.

PRESERVING THE HARVEST
Freeze raw or cooked. Strips can also be dried in a dehydrator.
